Frequently Asked Questions

I have no upper body strength or flexibility. Can I still do aerial classes?

Absolutely! Many of our students start out with little to no upper body strength, and they gain upper body strength by continuing to come to class and working through our progressions.

Is there a weight limit for aerial silks?

Absolutely not! Our rigging points are rigged to safely hold at least 4 tons of force, and the apparatuses are even stronger! Aerial arts and fitness is for anyone and any body of any shape and size, and we welcome them all!

How much does a class cost?

Our drop-in class pricing, memberships, and class pack pricing can be found on our Class Pricing page.

Can I schedule a private lesson for a group?

Absolutely! Whether you would like to try aerial arts on your own, with a friend, with your kid(s), or with a couple friends, we can host a private lesson for a group of any size. Just contact us to schedule it!

Where is Refuge Aerial located?

Refuge Aerial is located off of Siegen and Airline in the Industriplex area of Baton Rouge, LA. Our address is 6031 Fieldstone Drive. Our building is surrounded by a fence, so if you’re driving by, look for our logo on the building and fence!

What should I wear to class?

You should wear comfortable, somewhat form fitting workout clothing (leggings, t-shirt). Crop tops and sports bras are not ideal, as some of the skills require fabric sliding around your waist. Likewise, shorts and capris are also not ideal, but wont compromise your ability to participate in your first class. Most importantly, please make sure all your clothes are free of zippers (even ‘hidden’ ones) or any other metal. Lastly, please avoid oils and lotions on your hands, feet, and body the day you come to class.

Do I need to have aerial, dance, gymnastics, cheer, or physical exercise experience to take a class?

Nope! No knowledge or expertise of any other type of physical fitness or art is required to learn aerial.

How many intro classes do I need to take before I can join a beginner class?

We do advise attending one intro class before jumping into the rest of the schedule. The intro class is specifically designed for individuals who do not have any experience, allowing for more in-depth explanations of proper form and questions for a first timer.
